(65) 6836 1480Warts are harmless but contagious skin growths caused by a virus, and they come in various types – raised bumps, flat or even inward growing.
Apart from the desire to get rid of an unsightly and contagious growth, another common reason for wart removal is the pain and inconvenience caused by it: for example, warts on the sole can hurt when standing or walking, while warts on the toe can get caught on slippers.

Dr Cheong Lai Leng is an experienced dermatologist with over 20 years of experience in the evaluation and removal of warts. As such, Dr Cheong will be able to accurately identify the nature of your wart and determine the most suitable mode of treatment.
Qualifications:
Given that there are multiple methods of wart removal, the method used will depend on the type, location and size of the wart.
Liquid Nitrogen Therapy (most common)
Here, the wart is frozen off with liquid nitrogen, an extremely cold substance stored in a compressed cylinder. After the top layer of the viral wart is scraped off, liquid nitrogen is applied to the skin, often resulting in the formation of a blister. Some pain is expected, but this is normally tolerable.
Topical Creams
Electrosurgery
Carbon Dioxide Laser Surgery
Depending on the method of removal, the whole process may take one session or up to a few weeks. However, due to the viral nature of warts, there may still be a possible recurrence in the future.
Warts are skin growths caused by a virus. Some common, harmless skin growths are often mistaken for warts and vice versa. Examples include seborrhoeic keratoses (“age spots”) and skin tags that commonly occur on the face and neck.
It is important to obtain an accurate diagnosis of skin growths to allay fears and facilitate early intervention. They can grow on any part of the body. On pressure areas like the soles, they appear flat. Warts on the sole (called plantar warts) grow inward from the pressure of standing and walking and are often painful.
A dermatologist is a doctor who, after five years of working in general medicine, went on to undergo at least three more years of intensive, specialised medical and surgical training in dermatology; making him/her the most qualified doctor to remove your wart safely and effectively.
